Name of Assignment: Shark tank
Subject: Spanish
Facilitator/Teacher: Profe
Description of Work/Assignment:
The shark tank project was a group assignment. In the group, we had to come up with a design, name, location (on Maui), and meals for a restaurant or food truck. The presentation had to include Spanish words that we had previously learned. Then the rest was like a small Shark tank episode where the rest of the class acted as the sharks and one group at a time had to present. Then you voted if you wanted to invest in the restaurant or not.
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
The 21st-century skill I used for this project was Financial, Economic, and Business Literacy. A brief summary of this 21st-century skill is, demonstrating and understanding the process of a business, and the economic forces that drive today's economy as well as being prepared to make personal economic choices. I think my group and I demonstrated this skill by understanding the brief beginning of the process of a business. As well as being able to make choices to better sustain our business in growth.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
For this assignment, I was most proud of the poster I made for this assignment, I had stayed up till well after midnight working on it and I think It turned out ok for the time I had to do it. The lateness of the poster making was not procrastination this time it was actually my group's late dissuasion making that prohibited me from finishing it until that time.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?
I think I developed upon my 21st-century skill which in this case was Financial, Economic, and Business Literacy, I don't remember a lot of old work that I have ever done in school that had to do with a business. I could be that right at this moment I'm forgetting but I really can't recall anything. So it was a new experience to expand these skills.
What was most difficult about completing this task?
During this assignment, I think the most difficult thing was communication throughout the group. Everyone was busy at different times and it was difficult to communicate through text or call when only half the people were available at a time. We did in the end get it finished but it was definitely a challenge.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently?
If I could start over I would definitely try my hardest to plan everything out a bit better maybe since we already have an idea, we could get down to who's presenting what and what we need on the poster. Other than that I think we finished this project just in time and as well as we could with our communication problems.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past and how can you apply this to future learning?
This applies to future learning, and hopefully job experience or at least working in a group. I can definitely make out different and better communication plans and hopefully try and keep people more engaged in the project so we could have had a clearer start. Other than that I think this was an interesting and fun project and I wouldn't mind doing something like again.
